Oh gosh, I am sorry to hear about your eye issue. The herb “eyebright” and a substance called “pearl powder” may be worth looking into.
I really enjoy your writing and especially love the shrimp stories. My high school friend and I have nicknamed the corms of purple oxalis (clover)“shrimps”. When they pop up in the spring it’s always like seeing an old friend. I dig them up every time I move to a different home to plant at the new location. I may be mildly obsessed with “shrimps”.
I am seeing daffodil leaves all over my new houses yard (this is my first spring here)and grateful the previous occupant had the foresight to plant so many.
Since two different sets of sterile eyedrops have irritated my eye I will not be putting anything in there except the steroids the hospital gave me, which have made me look almost human again (as human as I ever am). I am glad you are obsessed with shrimp, this is good and natural; when me moved my husband planted the garden with daffodils, knowing he’d never see them, knowing he didn’t know who was moving in next. It’s one of many reasons I love him.
The pearl powder is taken by mouth. I am not sure on the eye bright. I agree about nothing in the eyes. Too big a risk. Oh yes, a daffodils planting husband is a “keeper”! The family of the previous owner at my house is my neighbor. They told me she called the daffodils her “babies”. I had no idea they were here and planted about a thousand last autumn. Not once did I see any of her bulbs while digging. Somewhat of a miracle.

And crows, how wonderful.
