I enjoyed reading so much. The title of this post is shared with an album I have been listening to - folk songs of the 60s and 70s, so evocative of this time of year…. All the sightings and wonders you describe are but fleeting so important work is done in their recording.
Thanks Cathy, It’s it a folk song but it’s one of the oldest songs in English, you can see the 13century manuscript digitised online. It’s worth looking into because of the fart mentions. Of course, I know it from the sound track to the wicker man (original, not Nicholas cage)
