I opened this a couple days ago, the day I got back from England, but didn't have time to comment so I'm back. I love this! I didn't take my sketch book to England with me, but did do thumbnails in my daily journal and now, between those and my photos, starting a new sketchbook from the trip. You have so inspired me! It looks like you were in beautiful territory (to me, all UK is beautiful territory) and I love the freedom and beauty of your paintings. Love especially your husband at the top of High Tor. Looks like I need to add another spot to my next-time travel list!
Interesting fact about Meldon Dam. My cousins husband (now ex) was involved in the construction but fell off the top and impaled himself on some rebar at the foot of the dam. Went in under his armpit and came out of his neck the other side. He survived!
NOT terrible sketches. I love them...their largeness in smallness, the paint colors! I want to go purchase a small sketchpad, some watercolors, and head to my Woods. Would you some time share your materials? I'd like to see ...do you use a backpack? Now I'm being a pest, like the Moss guy .....
No problems sharing but you spell it color so I’m not sure you’ll be able to buy them easily? The sketchbook is a Seawhites watercolour travel journal. This is mostly ink and wash so a regular travel journal would’ve sufficed. Colours are derwent Inktense pans (set 1, I think) and Windsor and Newton gouache in one of those tiny wooden palettes off amazon. Backpack is Lowe alpine airzone 22l not for carrying paint tho cos that will fit in a pocket x

Yes the West Country is lovely (I am biased) if you ever go to the bottom of Cornwall I’ll give you a list of ancient sites you need to visit x
Bucks Mills was one of my favourite places to go when I lived in North Devon. It is VERY grey.
It’s lovely. Maybe not the poisonous waterfall. I mean I love a waterfall but it angers me it’s polluted

That sounds horrific! I did tell Jim. He loves facts like that. Glad he survived

I love your sketches - they evoke something the camera can’t catch. And the Kate Bush reference made me smile.. thank you 😊
Thankyou! Kate bush is all the rage again nowadays, so I was sure someone would get it x
